What To Do When Visiting Your Parents In Boca Raton

Things to do in Boca Raton Florida

Ah, Boca Raton… the land of retired golfers, well-tipped pool boys, afternoon wine, and water aerobics. Miraculously only an hour north of Miami Beach lies the humid seaside town of Boca Raton, Florida… more famously known as the place where old people who feel like teenagers go to retire.

Jessica, you have to tell me the truth… am I old? Like old old?” My under-60 year old dad asked on my most recent trip to the Land Before Time.

Um… well… Okay- you’re not old. But you definitely aren’t young either?” I guessed. He laughed.

It’s easy to see how being in a place like Boca can make anyone feel older than they actually are. By day 2 of this trip I may or may not have felt some sympathy aches in my joints, decided my new role model is in her mid-70’s, and drank wine before a workout class. The retirement life is a good one, let me tell you.

But it made me ask- what in the world does every other teen or twenty- or thirty-something person do when visiting Boca? So I made a little list…

Take A Cooking Class at Sur La Table

Day Trip to Miami

This may be more of a necessity than a suggestion.

Visit Pat’s Wine Bar

My favorite place in Boca Raton, Will and Pat will treat you like family.

Try Beer & Golfcarting

This one is easier than you would ever believe. Grab a beer, grab a golf club member to help make the process easier, grab a golf cart, and go for a ride. Make sure to have a designated driver.

Become a Lady Who Lunches

Let me just say that the tapas in Boca are killer.

Lay By The Pool, Eat Some Fruit, Watch the Sights

There is nothing better than people-watching by the pool in Boca Raton. It is slightly scarring but mostly entertaining to watch how 70 year olds behave in bikinis and speedos. Sometimes, even miracles happen…

To give you an idea- one of the highlights of my trip was seeing a beautiful male model (a unicorn, by Boca standards) doing pull ups in the pool…. off of a device used to lower handicapped elderly into the shallow waters. HA!

Check Out A Movie at iPic

They give you free popcorn.

Take Selfies With Your Parents

It will make them feel special.

Uber to Delray for the Night

My favorite restaurant is Cabana El Ray. You will feel like you’ve escaped the old folks home and entered Cuba. Since there is also a university close by- there are so many similarly youthful people bar-hopping nearby!

Go To The Beach & Enjoy Your Youth

Boca Raton Beach Florida

The one thing I can say about visiting Boca Raton is that you feel light-years younger when you return home. Visiting Boca allows you to take a little break away from the pressures of daily life and enjoy living in the moment. Most importantly, it shows you to take advantage of your youth while you still have it. Enjoy 🙂

Have you been to Boca or a similar city?

I additionally believe that mesothelioma cancer is a rare form of cancers that is generally found in those people previously familiar with asbestos. Cancerous cells form inside the mesothelium, which is a shielding lining which covers a lot of the body’s internal organs. These cells normally form inside lining on the lungs, belly, or the sac that encircles the heart. Thanks for expressing your ideas.
