How to Party at the Playboy Mansion

how to party at the playboy mansion guide

I have a confession. Sometimes, I party at the Playboy Mansion. When I say that, I kind of feel like the Dos Equis man “I don’t always go to parties in LA, but when I do I go to the PB Mansion”… but, god, that sounds so pretentious totally ridiculous.

The subject of the mansion is one I get asked about a lot. So I figured I would share some details here. Before you go to a party at the Playboy Mansion, here are a few things you should know…

It’s not as wild as you think

This is probably the most important part to make clear to anyone trying to go to a Playboy party (and future employers and my parents reading this). To be honest, the parties are really mellow. Yes, there are a lot of scantily clad (and gorgeous) women… and equally gorgeous (not so scantily clad) B- list actors and musicians. However, the parties that are held now are nowhere near the level of insanity of parties from past decades. To be honest, modern Playboy parties are some of the least crazy events in LA. People are (oddly) on their best manners at the mansion.

Don’t get dropped off at the mansion

If you do manage to score an invite (boys: buy a ticket to a public party or be famous-ish, girls: same options or flaunt what you’ve got)… you will be told not to get dropped off at the mansion. Take this seriously. Tons of Ubers try to pull up the driveway and get turned away.

There is a shuttle in UCLA’s parking lot #4, that is the best way to get to the mansion. Check in through the garage, your name will be on a list. Then jump on the shuttle and go up.

Side note: I always die laughing when UCLA students walk by the line for the bus.

The zoo is awesome

The zoo is my favorite part! It is hidden, so a lot of people go to the Playboy Mansion without ever realizing there is a zoo filled with monkeys the size of your head and birds that will readily jump on your arm.

If you’re coming from the pool, walk straight through the main party and follow the path as it curved to the right outside. You will see a couple of animals and if you turn left, you will run straight into the little monkeys! Turn right at the end and you will see the birds. There are zookeepers around that will tell you more about the animals and help you hold the birds (clearly, I needed some help with this).

Grotto swimming is petrifying

Yeah… I mean, do your thing… but maybe try to avoid swimming in the grotto. To be honest, it is more of a photo op nowadays than it is a secret ‘what happens in the grotto stays in the grotto’ hideaway. There is also only so much chlorine and sanitizing agents you can use, just saying.

Try to avoid the bathroom

Or, if you can’t hold it, go right when you get to the party. Although the mansion does an excellent job of keeping the entire place really clean and people are generally very respectable with trash/etc, for some reason, the bathrooms turn into hazard zones (the mansion is 100% not at fault here, party guests can be really messy).

The bunnies are actually really nice

They will go out of their way to talk to you and make you feel welcome. They are insanely friendly, stunning, and just a total blast to be around. Feel free to say hello!

People go all out with costumes

Especially for Halloween and the Midsummer’s Night Dream party! Definitely do not be afraid to dress up (I went as Khaleesi from Game of Thrones this past Halloween and it was so much fun). You will see many Playmates wearing costumes that are entirely made of sprayed on paint, it’s actually really impressive.

Everyone is happy to be there

The best places to be are the spots where everyone is having a good time, period. I don’t see the point in going out if everyone is going to stand in a corner and not socialize. Arguably the best part of the Playboy Mansion is that everyone is, generally, really happy to be there and open to meeting new people. It is hard to leave the mansion without new friends (zoo animals included).

If you get invited to attend a party at the Playboy Mansion, go. It may not be as wild as your expectations or live up to infamous stories of past decades, but it is still a pretty great place to be. The mansion is filled with awesome animals, free drinks, and some of the friendliest people in LA. It is hard to go wrong.

Hi there! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this site? I’m getting tired of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.

    • Jess June 18, 2016 at 3:48 pm

Hi Evangelina! I use with BlueHost as my host platform. Hope this helps!

  • Quyen Louthan June 15, 2016 at 11:17 pm

I have mastered some points through your blog post. One other stuff I would like to mention is that there are numerous games available and which are designed specifically for preschool age little ones. They involve pattern acknowledgement, colors, pets, and shapes. These usually focus on familiarization in lieu of memorization. This keeps children and kids engaged without having the experience like they are studying. Thanks

    • Jess June 16, 2016 at 5:39 am

      Interesting! Thanks for sharing Quyen
